Regional Development Australia ACT (RDA ACT) has called on Canberra’s leaders and innovators to join with Committee members for an inaugural planning day being held on 17 May - set to become a key event on the ACT calendar.
RDA ACT Chair Craig Sloan described the Canberra Leaders’ Consultative Forum as, “a powerful conversation between ACT Government, business and community leaders that will inform the ACT Strategic Regional Plan 2011″.
“The Forum will serve two critical roles,” Mr Sloan said.
“Firstly, it ensures we receive widespread input into the ACT’s new Strategic Regional Plan for 2011/2012. And secondly, it provides an opportunity for our organisation to gain a sound understanding of the priorities of the ACT community, and for the community to better understand the role of RDA ACT, and the $1b RDA Fund.”
The Forum will be held at The Boathouse by the Lake function centre and attendance is by invitation only.
“We want to ensure key, innovative thinkers across the spectrum of issues attend the Forum, so we have invited senior people representing the economic, social, environmental and government sectors to come along and state their case.”
RDA ACT Executive Officer Robert van Aalst said a full agenda was planned for the day.
“We are keen to get as much input from Canberra’s leaders as possible. We appreciate they are all busy people and we value their contribution, and their committment to this event and to the ACT Strategic Plan,” Mr van Aalst said.
Invited are local politicians and heads of government agencies - both ACT and federal, and business and industry, education and community strategic thinkers.
The day will be facilitated by radio broadcaster and host of the ABC’s New Inventors program James O’Loghlin.
“James has strong ties with Canberra. He is a professional facilitator and innovative thinker who is well positioned to steer discussion and generate positive outcomes from the day,” Mr van Aalst added.
Further information will be provided on this website, or is available now by contacting the RDA ACT Secretariat.
