At the Regional Development Australia National Forum held in Adelaide on 17 and 18 May, RDA ACT and Southern Inland recommitted their working relationship by entering into a new and refreshed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Chair of RDA ACT, Mr Craig Sloan said ‘It is vital that the ACT maintain and further develop its close working relationship with the RDA Southern Inland (NSW). The ACT, as an island territory within the state of NSW, can not operate in isolation and this cementing of our relationship with RDA SI helps to support the ACT Government’s clear objectives of working in a more integrated way with the NSW Government, the regional local governments and regional stakeholders, including RDAs.’
Craig Sloan signed the MoU along with Ken Prendergast (Chair of RDA SI) in front of the NSW RDA Network in a breakout session to discuss issues directly affecting the RDAs across NSW.
The new MoU proposes working together in areas that align with each RDA’s Strategic Regional Plan as well as assisting in delivering outcomes noted in the MoU on Regional Collaboration between the ACT and NSW Governments signed in late 2011 by Chief Minister Katy Gallagher and the NSW premier Barry O’Farrell. Collaborative work has already commenced in the areas of economic development, renewable energy, the NBN and transport infrastructure and this work will develop and grow over the course of the MoU.
