Have Your Say on the 2015/2016 ACT Budget

The Budget consultation process is an important opportunity for members of the public, businesses, peak bodies, unions and community organisations to provide opinions on what the Government’s funding priorities should be in 2015-16 and future years.

The ACT Government’s investments in Canberra will help maintain growth in the economy and support jobs, provide vital services and facilities, and deliver the transformative infrastructure needed for the long term.

It was the Territory’s strong balance sheet that allowed record investments in health, education, and community services as well as important city transformational projects, helping the ACT economy to adapt to the changes in the Commonwealth’s activity levels.

The Government remains committed to ensuring that the community is involved throughout development of the 2015-16 Budget. Working together, we can ensure that limited resources are put to their most efficient use and identify where possible savings could be made. Please consider sharing your views on these topics through the ACT Government’s 2015-16 Budget Consultation process.

With these elements in mind, the Government asks that, in providing your input you have regard to the challenges currently faced by the Territory, and seeks your suggestions on balancing these objectives of measured spending and responsible savings.

The Canberra community is invited to share their views, including on the following:

  • Which services are the most important for the Territory?
  • What infrastructure projects should be priorities in the next four years?
  • What savings can be made?
  • Should the current suite and level of services be maintained?
  • How can services be provided more efficiently?
  • Are there any news ways to generate revenue and/or services to which the community should make a direct contribution (a fee for service)?

Submissions close on 13 October 2014 and are to be submitted via the consultation website.

The 2015-16 ACT Budget Consultation Paper is available on the consultation website. This document provides advice on the budget context and includes including information on the budget position and major revenue and expenditure lines of the budget.
