Free industry skills forum in Canberra

Register now for AIS forum that explores future skilling of Australia's workforce. Join industry leaders in discussions at the upcoming AIS Industry Skills Forums on what skills will be required by Australia’s workforce in the digital age.

In Canberra on 11 September, the panellists include one of the world’s experts on port management and logistics, Professor Devinder Grewal. He will be joined by leaders focused on business, innovation, defence, energy and safety.

The forum will explore how digital transformation is impacting industry and what businesses can do to ensure their workforce is prepared for change. Following the panel discussions, there will be a industry-specific break-out sessions to discuss and debate the challenges and possible solutions to skills shortages. Attendees will discuss higher-order skills for the workplace (such as management capability); cyber security; regulatory frameworks; environmental sustainability; and workforce profile and staff retention issues (including an ageing workforce and cross sector competition for staff).

Moderating discussions at these national Skills Forums is journalist and author Kerry O’Brien. Kerry is one of Australia’s most distinguished and respected journalists with six Walkley Awards for excellence in journalism including the Gold Walkley, and the Walkley for Outstanding Leadership. Other industry awards include a Logie for public affairs coverage.

Kerry will lead two Q&A style panels in each capital city, kicking off in Canberra at the Crowne Plaza on 11 September. The make-up of the Industry Panel for the Canberra event is:
