Message from the CEO

Among many notable meetings this last month were meetings with Stephen Jones MP (Shadow Minister for Regional Services), Michael  Schapper the new CEO of the Canberra Business Chamber and Melissa Pinney of Skills Canberra.

As you may be aware we recently coined the term ‘ACT Agrifood Hub’ to describe the facilitation services we are starting to deliver to help build momentum for a more sustainable local food system, assisting food companies innovate and invest in the ACT as well as engage with the ACT’s agritechnology, digital and services expertise. We are doing this by brokering, building, supporting and facilitating competitiveness for businesses, food value chain participants and supporting a sustainable food ecosystem.

We will also be working with Agribusiness Regional Development Association (ARDA) assisting them in establishing and growing The Canberra Regions Export Hub – with funding recently announced from the Federal Department of Industry Innovation and Science. This is good news for businesses with aspirations to export or grow their presence in overseas primary produce and food markets. RDA ACT’s role will include arranging advanced export training and product development.

If you are food company or a business which would like to deliver services to food companies in the Capital Region drop us a line.

Wishing all our readers a very happy Easter! And remember “If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.” ~ JRR Tolkien.
