RDA ACT is seeking stakeholder contribution (through a short survey) as part of our review of the RDA ACT Strategic Regional Plan which was developed during 2011 and launched in September that year. The survey will take between 3 and 10 minutes – depending on how much you choose to write.

BACKGROUND
In 2011, Regional Development Australia ACT invited a broad range of ACT and region key stakeholders, to provide insights into regional issues that would be used to update the ACT Strategic Regional Plan. Over 100 people participated in the inaugural RDA ACT Canberra Leaders’ Consultative Forum in May 2011 for this purpose, and the outcomes from the consultation provided a balanced and comprehensive representation of the key regional issues and priorities of the day that together formed the ACT Strategic Regional Plan 2011-12.
The ACT Strategic Regional Plan 2011-12 explored Canberra in its three contexts as: a significant city in its own right, the national capital and seat of Australia’s parliament, and the major regional centre for the south-east NSW region. From there, a strategic and regional response to the opportunities and challenges was identified that explored prospects for developing a strong and sustainable future for the ACT and its region.
A 2012-13 refresh of the ACT Strategic Regional Plan is currently being undertaken. It will be a relatively simple refresh of the 2011-12 major document, incorporating changes that reflect the previous year’s happenings, and refreshing priorities arising from these.
By way of example, policy documents that have been enabled or revised during this period include:
- The ACT Planning Strategy
- The ACT Economic Development Strategy
- Weathering the Change – Action Plan 2
- Transport for a Sustainable City 2012-2031
- ACT and NSW Memorandum of Understanding for Regional Collaboration
- NSW 2021 – South East NSW Regional Action Plan
The RDA ACT Committee requests your assistance to highlight the major changes which have occurred in our region over the past year, and to identify how these may have re-shaped the ACT and region’s direction and priorities.
